A Car Tax is a policy where the ownership of motor vehicles is taxed.

This tax brings in money based on the amount of Car Usage in the country. It's favored by the Environmentalists, since it discourages people from excessive Car Usage, which can harm the nation's Air Quality. However, the Motorists oppose the tax (which forces their membership rate to drop) and it lowers Middle Earnings. Another adverse problem is that this is a regressive tax, as lower class voters must scrimp more to save for the car tax as opposed to upper or middle class voters. Regressive taxes invite heavy criticism of the administration as they are inherently unfair, and the car tax actually can encourage increased automobile usage as a taxpayer wishes to enjoy their car as much as possible after they have gone to the trouble of paying for the tax.
