A Married Tax Allowance is a policy where people who are married are given tax breaks, thus encouraging more people to get (and stay) married.
These allowances are favored by the religious and the conservatives, and above all parents. The liberals isn't too keen on this policy, though.

This is a tax break for married couples, given as an encouragement for people to marry and also stick together. Church groups see it as essential that the state encourages traditional family values. Some see it as religion meddling in the tax system for no good reason.
